The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

SLU is a world-class international university focusing on the
very foundations of our existence: clean water, a living landscape,
sustainable food production, high standards of animal welfare and
sustainable cities.

Our principal sites are in Alnarp, Umeå and Uppsala, but activities are also conducted at research stations, experimental parks and educational establishments throughout Sweden.

SLU brings together people who have different perspectives, but they all have one and the same goal: to create the best conditions for a sustainable, thriving and better world.

SLU’s mission statement

SLU conducts education, research and environmental monitoring and assessment in collaboration with society at large.
Through our focus on the interaction between humans, animals and ecosystems and the responsible use of natural resources, we contribute to sustainable societal development and good living conditions on our planet.

SLU’s four Future Platforms

SLU has four interdisciplinary future platforms, intended to be a living, interactive interface between academy and society.  The work of the platforms is characterised by inter- and multidisciplinary methods focused on the future.

SLU researchers contribute to around 1.600 scientific articles every year and SLU’s publications belong to the most cited in their scientific fields. The university achieves very high standards in international comparisons.
